Enfuvirtide: Need for Patient Education Provides Pharmacists with Role

KEY POINT

With the fusion inhibitor enfuvirtide (formerly T20; Fuzeon—Roche; Trimeris) now in community pharmacies, a patient education opportunity is widely available to pharmacists. Nearly all patients using this agent have injection site reactions, and most of those on enfuvirtide have advanced disease and substantial antiretroviral experience, making clinical management difficult and complicated.
