Lower LDL levels may not necessarily be better for secondary prevention

KEY POINT

In patients with stable cardiovascular (CV) disease who were taking statins, the risk of major CV events was similar in those who achieved LDL levels of 70 mg/dL or less compared with those who had LDL levels between 70 mg/dL and 100 mg/dL, according to results of an observational study published in JAMA Internal Medicine.
