Observation as good as surgery for some men with localized prostate cancer

Radical prostatectomy did not significantly reduce all-cause or prostate-cancer mortality compared with observation in men with early-stage prostate cancer, but surgical intervention may be more beneficial for those with prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels greater than 10 ng/mL or for patients with intermediate- or high-risk tumors.
